承天寺

銀川市的西南邊，離商業街不遠有一座著名的寺廟—「承天寺」，寺中心的古塔就是俗稱「西塔」的承天寺塔。

據說這座塔是寧夏境內惟一有文獻記載可循的古塔。根據明朝編修的《寧夏新志》記載：「承天寺塔在承天寺內，偽夏所建，一十三級，有殘碑可考。」不過元、明時期銀川屢遭天災、兵燹，承天寺與承天寺塔屢建屢毀，現在看到的承天寺塔，是嘉慶二十五年（西元1820年）重修的新塔，不過從塔頂的寶頂看來，還是保留了西夏佛塔的基本造型。

承天寺塔是目前寧夏所有的古塔中最高的一座，高64.5公尺，是十一層的八角型磚塔。塔身建在高2.6公尺的方形台基上。內部塔室呈正方形，為木板結構，有木梯可以盤旋而上。塔身各層簷角的鐵柄上還掛有鐵鐸，起風的時候，叮噹作響。最上方是一座桃形綠色琉璃塔刹。整座塔造型挺拔，古樸簡練。

承天寺是西夏王朝的皇家寺廟，根據記載，西夏開國君主李元昊死後，皇太后沒藏氏為了求佛陀庇祐幼年登基的小皇帝李諒祚，於是修建承天寺和承天寺塔。並且將西域僧人進獻的佛骨埋藏於塔基之下；隨後又將宋朝所賜的《大藏經》收藏於寺內。承天寺建成之後，延請回紇高僧登座講經，皇太后與皇帝經常在座聆聽。寺內香火旺盛，是西夏時期著名的佛教聖地。

承天寺門票：聯票22元，包含博物館2元，展廳8元，登塔5元。承天寺原本也是寧夏博物館所在地，不過博物館正在搬遷到新館，將來門票價格也會調整。
